Collaborating with the local schools

Paul Crooks approached me with a proposal of assisting with developing a workshop with him for the local schools that orbit the South London Gallery for the Alvaro Barringtons show. For more information on the show click the button below.

I was tasked with planning the second stage of the workshop which required the students to take their newly found knowledge of the Alvaro Barrington show and produce a piece of artwork that incorporated the techniques and narratives Alvaro developed for his show. Incorporating my own practice of collaborative community engagement, I tasked the students with creating a mural piece that interweaved a story of identity. Just like Alvaro Barrington’s work, the more you stare at the finished artworks the more stories unfold.
